Apps

Native App or Web App

Native apps provide a highly optimized and seamless user experience by taking full advantage of the device's hardware and software capabilities. They can work offline, offer faster performance and access device-specific features such as the camera, GPS and push notifications. This makes them ideal for resource-intensive applications and those that require deep integration with the device.

Web apps, on the other hand, are platform-independent and can be accessed from any device with a web browser, making them very versatile and easy to maintain. They do not need to be installed, which saves disk space, and updates are immediately available to all users. This makes web applications a cost-effective solution for reaching a wide audience quickly.

Web app or static website?

If it can be a little more interactive: If you want to offer your users more interactive functions than just purely static content, you need a web app. This includes, for example, use cases that allow your target group to make entries, process, save and display data. Obvious examples of this are online shopping, Google Maps and, of course, social media platforms. The transition from a static website with Wordpress is fluid, which is why you need to consider at an early stage whether a static website will be sufficient in the long term.

Cheaper and easier to market

Just like websites, web apps are implemented in the common technologies HTML, CSS and JavaScript for the web. This is an important difference to native apps, with which you can only reach your target group via the well-known app stores. A web app, on the other hand, is immediately accessible to every Internet user and paid services can also be realized without the usage fees of an app store.

Significantly cheaper

In contrast to native apps, web apps are also much cheaper to develop and this is mainly due to the fact that they are built using common web technologies. A native app requires expensive developers who are proficient in the programming languages of the respective platform, which in the case of Apple are Objective-C and Swift and respectively Java and Kotlin for Android. A web app, on the other hand, is largely written in JavaScript, for which there are many so-called meta frameworks such as Remix or Next.js. These allow us to build a web application in the shortest possible time at a lower price that doesn't need to hide behind native apps.

Easier to market

Another reason is the accessibility of a web app as opposed to a native app. Because a web app is provided via the internet, accessibility is much better. The internet makes it possible to provide the content of an app via Google search results and this brings a huge advantage in terms of reach.
