Real Sailrs need a codex

We are sailrs. We sail the digital seas. This is our codex:

  1. Customer excellence - no compromise We strive to always deliver excellent solutions. We set a high bar for ourselves and reach it. If we are about to miss a goal we do everything possible to still achieve it. Internal issues will not affect the customer.
  2. Underpromise, overdeliver We keep things realistic - two feet on the deck. We do not promise what we cannot deliver. We have the courage and grit to do whatever it takes to get things done. We communicate clearly and stand by our word.
  3. Software that changes things We build software that changes businesses and institutions. We build software that changes how people work and act. We build software that changes the world for the better a little every day.
  4. Technology is the means to an end, not the end Technology is our tool - like a shipbuilder uses a saw: He cares for his tools but uses them to build a ship. We use technology to solve problems. We apply technology to deliver solutions.
  5. We don't solve problems that shouldn't exist We focus on solving problems that matter and don't waste our energy on meaningless tasks. We look at things from different perspectives to avoid wasting time. We solve problem at the source, not the symptom level.
  6. The best idea wins At Sailrs the best idea wins, regardless of who came up with it. Everyone has a voice and everyone will be listened to. If a decision is needed we take it quickly and decisively.
  7. No asshole policy We don't tolerate assholes. We respect each other and don't elevate ourselves above others. We trust, help and support each other.
  8. Straight as a rod We say what we think - for the best of our customers, the solution and the team. We bend but we don't break. We are not afraid to share uncomfortable truths - even if it hurts. We steer true north.
  9. 5:1 rule Five smiles for one slap. We give praise where praise is due. We do not bash others for mistakes they make. We provide feedback openly, constructively and in a timely manner.
  10. Collaboration beats competition It takes a team to sail a ship. We work together not against each other. We are an open system always trying to make connections and build bridges. We respect our "competitors" and treat them fairly.
  11. Never stop learning The moment you stop learning, you stop growing. We sail forward, not backward. That means that whenever a new challenge is approaching we see it as a learning opportunity and will learn what needs to be learned - even if it is taxing.
  12. Fail fast and learn If we do something and it fails, we don't look for excuses but own up to our mistakes. We stay strong until we solve the problem and find solutions that work. No blaming, no bashing.
  13. We are lean We work lean and agile and build lean solutions. We don't waste time and don't overthink. We stay focused on what matters most.
  14. Bureaucracy to the min We keep bureaucracy and red tape to a minimum (<20%) and maximize value-added time. We automate and systematize what we can.
  15. We embrace change. We are pragmatic, not dogmatic. We keep what is good and change what needs to be change.
